Before you say “I do,” there are just a few simple legal steps to ensure your marriage is officially recognized in Alberta.

Obtain a Registration of Marriage from any authorized Alberta Registry Agent. The cost is approximately $100, and the license is valid for 3 months—plenty of time to plan your perfect day.

Both parties must apply in person, with valid government-issued ID (driver’s license, passport, or birth certificate). If previously married, you’ll need to provide your Divorce Decree Absolute as part of the application.
